Birthday Boy

Can you believe he is 4 years old!!!! I can't :( It seems like yesterday that I went into the hospital to be induced and a few hours later at 2:15 in the afternoon he grace us with his cute little baby big head :) He seriously had a large head! The poor little guy had acid reflux and it was so sad for awhile to seem him in pain after he ate, but it didn't deter him much. I actually started this blog a couple of months after he was born! So you can go back and see what a chub he was :) My little Ethan is one of the funniest kids I have ever met, the things he comes up with has us rolling. He is definitely my tester child. He pushes my limits to the edge, and then some. I think he will be successful in life because he is extremely persistant! We love him so much and are so happy that our little guy is part of our family :) We love you Ethan!!!!!

Mean Mom

My soon to be four year old refuses to stop sulking about everything. He is ridiculous! Last Wednesday his preschool teacher informed me that he was put in time out for being rude to one of his classmates. When she asked him to apologize he refused and sulked around, so he remained in time out for the entire time! Today we went and I told him he needed to apologize to his teacher. He refused. I took him home and he has lost all of his privileges today and tomorrow. If he does not apologize Wednesday, his birthday party is being cancelled. Do I sound like a mean mom? I just can't deal with his behavior any more. He has to try and test every boundary possible, and I refuse to let him think he is somehow above consequence. I am sorry to those I've told about the invite or given one to already.

What will happen if you swallow a quarter?

When you are a skinny six year old..... or any shape, size, or age for that matter; you should never put a quarter in your mouth. First off that is just disgusting, who know where it has been. Second you could accidentally swallow it. Right now I am telling you, I am just so grateful it when down one tube and not the other or I would not have a six year old with me any longer :( Are you ready for the full story? The kids were downstairs watching a show and I ran up stairs to send some paypal invoices to a couple of clients. I hear Kylie next to me and she holds up two bloody fingers. Of course I asked what had happened not expecting the words to come out that she SWALLOWED A QUARTER!!!! Even more frightening she tried her best to dig it out of her throat ( that's why the bloody fingers!) I asked her if she hurt and she told me her chest by her heart hurt really bad! I made sure she wasn't having any trouble breathing and then called the pediatricians office. They told me if she was in pain to take her to the ER, something I already knew in my gut I had to do. I then called Bryan and he told me she would be fine and not to waste the money taking her in. She would just crap it out later, right? Kylie didn't look normal to me though, she looked like she was in agony :( So despite Bry being mad at me I took her in. We sat there for 2 hours waiting to see what the plan was. We finally got an X-ray (Ethan and I got to watch) and sure enough the quarter was lodged in her esophagus right where she had been complaining it hurt so badly. They then informed me they would be sending us up to Primary Children's for the removal of it :( I wish I had saved the time and gone up their in the first place, because I knew before they told me that it was stuck and I knew exactly where already. My Mom freaked out a bit and left work to come with me. I called Bryan and the moment he heard we had to go up to Primary's he left work feeling really bad for chewing me out and thinking it wasn't that big of a deal. I felt so bad for my little Kylie bug. You could tell how much pain she was in, and there was nothing I could do to make her feel better. We made it up to primary's about 4 hours from the time of incident. They decided to try first a dumb man's cure (as I call it). We are going to have her drink some sprite and jump up and down to see if we can get it to move down. Okay! Why didn't I think of that, right? Wrong! It didn't work, it stayed stuck :( So Bryan followed Kylie in with the radiologist. They (she was alert for this whole part) shoved a long tube down her throat and pushed the quarter into her stomach!!! She shook and vomited :( Kylie now has a quarter moving through her digestive system, and a lovely pair of sweats from the hospital. I would never in a million years have thought Kylie of all people putting a quarter in her mouth. That is my biggest problem, I expect things like this from her little brother, but not her. Needless to say we sat down and told her that night how much worse that could have gone. It most likely would have killed her if it had gone down the wrong tube, something that would have killed my spirit as well. Happy Mother's day to me, it may cost me a fortune, but nothing can put a price on my Kylie's safety! I'm so glad she is okay and both of my kids vowed to keep small objects out of their mouths! Now I have an X-ray of a little body with a big quarter stuck tight, definitely going in the book of remembrance.

May Update

May is here, and it is time for a new update..... Bry is finishing up with school, YAY! I just finished my final history paper for him, and I know more about the dropping of the Atomic bombs then I cared to. I told him I get to pick on of his extra classes next semester if I am going to do most of the work ;) I am getting really busy! I even have double bookings this Saturday (something I usually try to avoid) I got a last minute wedding and couldn't turn it down :) Many of my friends might think I am avoiding them, but I promise that I am just super busy! I talk a big game, but then I just can't seem to find enough hours in the day to fit it all in! I have scheduled a couple weekends off this summer to do stuff with the family, and actually try to enjoy their company. I know many people have asked Bry this in trying to spare my feelings, but I am regrettably not pregnant. We have been trying as most of you know for well over a year. I have been putting off going to the doctor for numerous reasons, but I think I am caving in this month. First, I am terrified to go and hear that I won't be able to have any more kids :( My Mom had a hysterectomy at 27, and I am 27! Second, I am terrified to be put on Chlomid! My Mom is a twin and I know if you have multiples in you family it can increase the chance of you having them. It is not that I wouldn't love having two kids, but there is no possible way that we could afford them. Double the diapers, formula, clothing..... CHACHING! Yes, that would not be a good thing, especially right now when things are tighter for us. We are down to one car, my parents are going to let Bry drive their old car (he is going to be totally rocking an old lady car). We are so grateful to them, because driving Bryan to work this last week has seriously not been too fun. We leased our Escape (something I'd never do again) and traded in both of our cars at the end of the lease for a bit roomier family car...... a Mazda 5! Yes, Bryan said he would never have a mini van, but it basically is a smaller version of one. The kids love it, and can climb in easily. Plus, if I do get pregnant (cross your fingers) we can fit a third easily. Kylie is finishing up school too! She is on A track so she ends on June 3rd. She is competing right now too, and her team took 1st on all three of her dances last Saturday! They are all so stinking cute, and Kylie has some serious attitude when she dances now, it is so fun! She also lost her first tooth last Friday, and I love her toothless grin :) She is getting so big! Ethan started playing soccer. Well, that is if I can get him out on the field with the other kids. He talks a big game, but he is my shy one in a crowd. He looks so stinking cute in his shin guards and cleats though :) His birthday is this month, and I hope I have time to make his party fabulous :) Cross your fingers for me! That's about it for now........ see you in a month!
